Onyx & Pearl pin

This unusual onyx & seed pearl yellow gold pin is custom made with a glass casing on the reverse which holds human hair.  (I beleive it was a piece of "mourning" jewellery - thus the hair). The centre yellow gold leaf is set with 6 seed pearls.  The onyx measures approx 37mm long by 12 mm in width and weighs 8.13 grams.  It was independantly appraised in Calgary, Alberta for $1500 and the appraisal comes with the item (a $50 value)  It was metal tested  and found to be "14 Karat".
